RLCA Board of Director’s Meeting—October, 5, 2021

Present board members: Charlie Bennett, Angie Ward, Jim Boothby, Gary Long, Jeff Toffer, Bill Pease, Joe Dickinson, Robert Syverson and Sandi Bennett

  1. Charlie Bennett calls the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
    1. Meeting is audio recorded
  2. Sandi moves to approve the minutes of the Sept 7, 2021 meeting and Gary Long seconds. Minutes are approved unanimously.
  3. Report of Officers
    1. Jim Boothby—see attached report
    2. Sandi Bennett—the RLCA members should have received an email. I am trying really hard to update emails, but it is the communities responsibility to get me their correct contact information
  4. Reports of standing committees
    1. Conservation, Maintenance and Dams—Gary Long
      1. Lake level is dropped—Friday or Saturday for closing valves?
      2. More rock delivered
      3. Elevation survey should be done in the next few years
      4. Would like to build another boat rack
      5. Informational signs have new backs
      6. Security issue—a couple of 4 wheelers are messing with Bald Eagle Beach
    2. Community Relations—Diana Kenworthy
      1. See attached report
      2. Halloween party on the 31st
      3. Christmas caroling around the lake
    3. Roads—Ben Bersagel, Casey Lambert
      1. Fundraising options to raise money for roads—BBQ perhaps, used tool sale?
      2. have road signs but need posts
      3. will fill a few potholes that have developed
      1. Jim Markley suggested buying a paver machine and doing the paving ourselves.

  1. Unfinished business
    1. Legal update—Charlie Bennett/Jeff Toffer
      1. Jeff Toffer makes a motion to reimburse Rick Smith the legal fees from Talmadge (the appellate lawyer that is handling the appeal of the election in Sept. of 2020 brought by Powers et all) since July 24th. The amount is $7000.00. Gary Long seconds and the motion passes unanimously.
  2. New Business
    1. Newsletter will be emailed to those that we have email addresses for and mailed to the few we don’t in order to save costs.
    2. Tentatively—the November, December, January, February meetings are cancelled for the winter months.
      1. We will notify the community if we are having a November board meeting
  3. Open Forum
    1. Jim Markley still has concerns that since we have an Airbnb in our community, we need to be ADA compliant.
    2. Jim Markley still has concerns about a husband and wife being on the board since the secretary is not primary on her two lots. Additionally, the vice-president’s husband would have to direct membership to her as she is not primary on her lot as well, he states.
  4. Adjournment
    1. Gary Long motions to adjourn, Angie Ward seconds and all approve unanimously to adjourn. Meeting is adjourned at 7:03
