2017 Summer Newsletter

As we celebrate our country’s independence, may we also be thankful for this beautiful community! How lucky we are to live here at Reflection Lake. You know the saying “behave like a duck, keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the dickens underwater”? Well, your board has been very busy and we are excited to tell you about our plans for the future.

Our monthly board meeting, which is usually on the first Tuesday of each month, is being postponed until July 11th at 6:00pm at our community center. Community members are welcome to attend  and we always have an “Open Forum” at the end of the meeting for non-board members’ questions.

Also coming up is our annual meeting on Saturday, July 29th at 10:00am at the RLCA community center. We will start with a business meeting and then have a potluck lunch around noon. Please bring a casserole, crock pot dish, chili or salad and we will provide beverages and bread. At this meeting we will vote to approve the budget for 2017-2018. A copy of the proposed budget will be mailed to all property owners after the July 11th board meeting. At our meeting in June, the board voted to raise the annual dues by $25 per lot starting next year so we can take care of some much needed repairs and to have funds for future repairs. These repairs will be detailed at our Annual Meeting on July 29. You will have the opportunity to ratify the increase at this meeting.

We also will be voting in three board positions. We want to thank Nan for three years of service on the board and we need someone to fill that position. Also up for renewal are the positions currently held by myself, Debby Geoghagan and Gary Long. Gary and I were brought in after two board members resigned before the end of their three year term. I have been the board Secretary and chairman of the Social Committee since last November. Gary came on the board in March, 2017 and is also the chairman of the Maintenance committee. Gary and I are happy to stay on the board but we still need to be voted in for the next three year term.  The elected individual must be a Reflection Lake property owner and have been so for a full year or more in order to be eligible.

Lake Security: For the next few months, Gary Long, Jeff Toffer and other volunteers will be doing Lake Patrol. When you see our volunteers, stop and introduce yourself. These are the good guys who are looking out for your lake and our safety.  Thanks to our volunteers, they are invaluable!

Fish Guts and Cigarette Butts  We all know the “haul in – haul out” rule, but some of us may need a reminder about fish guts. The eagles do not need our help and it doesn’t add nutrients to the water, do not throw fish guts in the lake. They will be of better use in your garden. Also, think about the child who could find that fishing hook, cigarette butt or broken bottle and don’t leave it behind.

The summer months bring out playful children, so please slow down and drive carefully. Also, dogs are not allowed to run free off of their owners property in this community and please give them the training they need so they don’t bark incessantly. These reminders are just intended to preserve the peaceful community we enjoy here. Being a good neighbor is everyone’s responsibility.
